Today is the start of 2021. And Tyler’s 13th birthday. I have a teenage son.
We stayed up till 12:03am to surprise him with a pavlova cake put together with love by his mummy, daddy and little sister. We gave him his pressie to open too.
There’s so much I would like to do today and so many shots I thought i would get to take but today was quiet and uneventful. We went to the escape room as a family and managed to escape with some help. You can really see each person’s personality in this environment. I gave the kids my words of wisdom from my observations and I hope they will take it on board.
None of the Italian restaurants Tyler wanted to eat at were open so we found ourselves in Eastwood, eating rice with roast duck and roasted pork in a tiny, squishy restaurant. There are plastic barriers in between the tables and COVID sign on it. Taiyah doesn’t like eating fat so he pulled all the fats out of each pork piece. He’s so picky when it comes to food. Drives me nuts.
Feels like the world has slowed down and everything is changing. We need to learn to reset and re-define the new normal. Finding gratitude in these moments. This may not be a pretty picture but it shows the truth and that’s what matters.
