At 6:30am I went into Tyler’s room, tucked myself beside him under the blanket, touching his face with my hands and a kiss on the forehead whispering it’s time to wake up Taiyah. He opened his sleepy eyes and rolled to the left and I kissed him again and repeated ” It’s 6:30″
He smiled and said “Ok mummy”
I left the room. Within a minute I can hear the shower running. Tyler is great in the morning. His habit is waking up on time and straight into the shower. He will then get himself dressed and be ready to go catch a bus. Quoc and I don’t ever need to say a word. He is an absolute morning gem.
Alannah is a little different. She’ll squeeze in every minute or second she can on the bed. Infact, she’d wait till 8:15am or even later before jumping off the bed and race to get dressed.
After Tyler got dressed in his sports uniform, he intentionally came into the room to annoy his little sis, one hand tapping her gently on her head and the other pulling her blanket off lightly “Wake up, school time!!”
Alannah opened her sleepy eyes and checked her watch “ohh my god it’s sooo early. It’s only 7:15, I’m sleeping.” She then turned the other way and pulled the blanket over her head. Tyler giggles. He knows his sister too well. I’m amused seeing her toes sticking out.
After school, Alannah beamed “I have Mr Gardener as my teacher and Tara, Hannah and I are in the same class.” She’s overjoyed. Best start to Year 6! Tyler said he had a good day but no exciting story to tell except that he has a new female teacher for his Advanced Maths class and “ofcourse, my teacher is Asian.” His voice and expression was both happy and amused.
